About MediCommerce Texas Medical Billing & RCM Company
- Why Texas matters to MediCommerce (roots in the state, understanding of Texas Medicaid, Texas Medical Board rules, rural hospital challenges, TORCH/THA relationships)
Yes, roots in Texas; understanding Texas insurance rules for coding, billing, and credentialing; TORCH and THA relationships (though it happened recently in 2026)
- Which Texas regions or practice types you serve most (rural hospitals, cardiology groups, behavioral health, home health agencies per your existing client base)
We currently have clients in the DFW and Houston metros and would like to grow in this market. But also expand to the San Antonio and Austin metros
- Any local involvement (associations, sponsorships, community ties in Frisco/North Texas)
Personally, Bala is involved in volunteering for the Frisco ISD PTA and was a VP Programs, He has also volunteered for Frisco ISD Achieve Mentoring Program, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Tarrant County, Texas; ACHE North Texas; Frisco City volunteering; and volunteering with a few Hospice care centers
- What specifically brought Bala and Prashad together after their separate paths? Was there a shared frustration with the industry, a client problem, a personal connection
We both come from a family-owned small business, but during our initial working age, we were working for large MNCs; our internal aspiration to become small business owners and continue the family legacy of owning businesses drove both of us to venture into starting a business. Though we did not crack any business in the first 18 months, our commitment and perseverance finally paid off, and we signed our first business in 2017
- Why November 2015, what was the spark
Once we decided to start the business in Aug/Sep 2015, we did not look back. We hired a CPA to register our business; Nov 11 is the date on which our company registered in the state of Texas. From there, our relentless work to build this company continued, and we stand where we are now. The journey did not end; now we want to take our company to the next level to become the largest billing company in the state of Texas.
- The name “MediCommerce,” what it means or how it was chosen
We did not have to think a lot about the name. It naturally came to us as we are dealing with medical groups, and we handle their commerce (revenue)
- How the company grew from two founders to today, team size now, when the Chennai delivery center opened and why
We started with two founders and 2 employees. That is four people. Since we both (Prashad and Bala) worked in Chennai for more than 10 years, it became a location to open the delivery center there. Moreover, Prashad is a Chennai resident. Chennai also has a large pool of RCM talent available in the market. It was one of the earliest cities to adopt IT growth in India. Not only RCM services, but Chennai is also known as a home for large MNCs (Link about Chennai’s contribution to IT and ITES growth in India)
- Number of clients served, states covered, years of combined RCM experience
Prashad has a total of 25+ years of experience in the RCM industry. Bala has 25+ years in IT services, of which 10+ years are in RCM. We are serving more than 50+ clients across the US. The majority of our clients are in Texas, California, and Florida.
- Any certifications (HIPAA compliance, coding certifications like CPC, AAPC affiliations)
Our office is completely HIPAA compliant. We were able to become a preferred vendor with a US-based large home healthcare agency. Our coders are CPC certified. Our median experience with our staff is around 8+ years. We have combined experience of 5000+ man-months.
